DRUG CASES

If the police ask to search you or your property such as: car, containers, bags, home, say
"NO." Never give police consent to search, even if you do not think you have anything
illegal. You cannot be arrested for refusing to give consent. If the officer asks if you have
anything you shouldn't have, or anything they should know about, say "NO." It is your
constitutional right to refuse.

Don't say to yourself that if you refuse to give consent, then the officer will think you have
something to hide (they are asking your consent because they already think you may have
contraband). It is not your burden to prove to the officer that you don't have an illegal
substance or weapon. It is the officer's burden to prove that you are violating the law. You
have a right to be free from unreasonable government intrusion into your privacy. So,
exercise your constitutional rights.
